Windows 10 Tech Preview build 9879, A Clean Installation with All-Portable-Desktop-Applications
This time it took me:
» 24 hours of ISO torrent download time,
» 5 hours of backing up my 18GB plus portable applications into around 7GB of 7-zip archive—and at the same time creating the Windows installation flash disk with YUMI,
» 0.5 hours to verify the backup archive—using 7-Zip's testing feature.
I finally able to start a clean installation of build 9879!
I boot up my laptop with the flash disk, and wait...
During this multiple restarts, I notice that there's this new or maybe unpolished Settings screen. Usually it's white text on dark blue background but now it's basic black on white background,
After that, the usual multiple reboots and then screens like this one,
Finally, we get to the desktop,
It only took around 15 minutes! Yes, this is what I like about Windows 8 and now 10. It used to be 2-3 hours in Windows XP.
I skip Vista and 7, so it's really a PLEASANT surprise to have such a quick installation time starting from Windows 8!
The first time I click the Start menu—as it was in the first build—it's still populating the menu contents,
more time...,
until finally we can see the default raw Start menu arrangement—I took this screenshot after installing the display driver so it's not totally raw,
I try to search, but oops, the panel went up...guess not really ready, must wait a little more...,
Next: Installing the device drivers...
